8th CII Global Skill Summit in Lucknow

The two-day CII Global Summit on Skill Development in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India was an event of national significance. As partner country, Switzerland was well represented by both dignitaries, governmental bodies and private actors in the field of skill development. Mauro Dell’Ambroglio, Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, addressed the audience before inaugurating the Swiss Pavilion at the exhibition ground. Dr. Andreas Baum, Ambassador of Switzerland to India and Bhutan, accompanied by BuhlerLausanne Hospitality ConsultingRieter and SFIVET presented their training programs to the audience.

The Swiss session  moderated by  Sebastien Hug, CEO, swissnex India and Consul General of Switzerland, Bangalore provided insights into the world of Swiss VET, especially the role of the cantons, government and professional organizations in shaping and implementing the apprenticeship system. Testimonials by Swiss and Euro Skills Gold Medal winners and Sagaya Mary, technician and former VET trainee at Buhler (India) Pvt. Ltd were highlights of the session.

Participants interacted with Swiss VET experts and discussed ways that the VET model can be replicated in different states of India. We look forward to the launch of these projects so that we can contribute further to India’s thriving skilling landscape.
